OVERLOOKING MISSOULA

The peace sign stands
on the foothill slope
that dominates the horizon,
and the snow that blankets her
is eternal.
The field is endless;
the fences distant as death.
All is white.
All is white.
Except for TV Mountain,
grey with snowstorm,
all is white.
The lone black horse
digging for grass,
is an exclamation point
on a sentence of solitude.
